Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo) said that Indonesia would not give slightest tolerance for breaking the rules, which prohibit use of telecommunication devices while in flight.
Head of Information and Public Relations of Kemenkominfo Gatot S Dewa Broto said the use of telecommunication devices during flight could potentially disrupt communications and navigation equipment of aircraft, since these devices are designed to send and receive signals.
“There is a rule that describes the use of radio frequency spectrum and satellite orbits in the manner intended and should not interfere with each other,” said Gatot, Friday (6/6).
Violation of these provisions will be penalized a maximum imprisonment of four years or a maximum fine of Rp 400 million suit. Gatot said that if the offense is also causing death of a person, will be charged a maximum imprisonment of 15 years.
