Known that Indonesia is one of the biggest market for BlackBerry, mobile operators will prepare a program bundle, including Indosat and Telkomsel.

Division Head Device Bundling and Customization Strategy Telkomsel Pradetya Arief said it would have entered the program bundle for all flagship devices from phone manufacturers, including BlackBerry Z10.

BlackBerry 10 mobile operators will be used to attract customers from upper middle class. There is the possibility they will make the program a year contract, offering cellular service packages and competitive internet.

BlackBerry Z10

The first device will be the Z10 — pronounced “zee-10” in the U.S. and “zed-10” elsewhere, including Indonesia. Z10 is the first full touch screen phone that uses the operating system BlackBerry 10. BlackBerry Q10

In addition to introducing the BlackBerry Z10 with full touch-screen model, the company also released the BlackBerry phone with a physical keyboard named Q10.

Although the current trend of smart phone is a full touch screen, the BlackBerry remains confident releasing a physical keypad phone. "We know there are many mobile phones with physical keypad lovers out there," said CEO Thorsten Heins BlackBerry in New York, U.S., on Wednesday (01/30/2013).

Even with a physical keypad, BlackBerry Q10 supports touch-screen navigation. BlackBerry Q10 has a thickness of 10.3 mm and weighs 139 grams. Rear panel is made of fiber glass material. "You will not find this material on any other device. It’s thinner, lighter, and stronger than plastic," said Heins.

The company has not released the full specifications BlackBerry Q10, including sensors on the front and rear camera. What is known however, it supports 3G wireless networks, Bluetooth, NFC, and has a MicroSD slot to expand storage capacity.

While smartphone users around the world are leaving their BlackBerrys and buying Google’s Android-powered phones and Apple’s iPhones, Indonesia remains a good spot for Research In Motion.

According to market research firm IDC, the BlackBerry operating system accounts for 37 percent of the market. However, RIM is still losing ground in Indonesia, but it’s not as faster as elsewhere. In 2011, BlackBerrys accounted for 43 percent of the market.

Android is now the top choice, but BlackBerry remains ahead of the 2.5 percent share for No. 3 Apple iOS, due to the dominance of BBM.

The new operating system might have limited impact on Indonesians in rural areas, because people prefer cheaper phones. But for the upscale market, a pricey new BlackBerry might draw interest in Jakarta, where BlackBerry fans are willing to spend a little bit more. So, in Indonesia, at least, RIM is not finished yet.
